The Kompanion™ features a number of additional therapy modes to vary and adapt the exercises to the exact needs and progression of the patient.

* Extension / Flexion Mode
  One click and the unit will position itself at a non-pain level of 20° flexion (can be adjusted in settings).

* Warm Up Mode
  Initiate the session at 70% of ROM and increase by 5% until reaching the full ROM set up.

* Spring Mode
  Repeat 3 times the last 10° of extension and flexion (can be adjusted in settings).

* Extremity Focus Mode
  The speed will be minimal during the first 10° and the last 10° of the movement. The speed will be faster during the rest of the range of motion (can be adjusted in settings).

* Evaluation Mode
  Three levels of active resistance exercise to test and evaluate patient progress within the rehab process. (The patient performs 5 or 10 repeated exercises during which he is asked to resist against the device whilst going into flexion.)

* Dynamic Stretch Mode
  Mode used with patients having difficulties reaching full extension. The device will gradually extend the knee with pauses between each stretch.

Designed for patient comfort:
The Kinetec Performa™ has been designed with the patient's movement and comfort in mind. This CPM mimics the movement of the patient around the hip and knee area to ensure the best possible fit to the patient. INDICATIONS
The use of the device is indicated in any joint stiffness of the foot, whether congenital or acquired, as long as the articular surfaces are normal or only slightly deformed.

Congenital talipes equino-varus
Pre-operative mobilisation from the age of 3 months allows certain cases to avoid surgery. In other cases theimprovement in mobility of the hind foot makes the operation easier. The apparatus may be used afterwards for post-operative movement.

Sequellae of burns, trauma and nonspastic foot paralysis…
may also be mobilised either by pure passive movement, or as part of a programme comprising a surgical procedure supported by pre and post-operative periods of continuous motion.

Treatment in hospital:
The device is best used during in-patient treatment in a paediatric surgical service, or specialist rehabilitation service under the supervision of the surgeon and physiotherapist.

Treatment at home:
To avoid increasing the cost of treatment the machine may be rented for home treatment. A short period of instruction in hospital allows the parents and home physiotherapist to familiarise themselves with the handling of the machine.

Security
Respect of the functional axis of the hind foot: Troughout its course the displacement transmitted to the sole of the foot respects the functional axis of the relevant joint for each component of the movement.

Distraction
At rest and throughout its action the machine maintains a light axial traction which off-loads the pressures which are applied to the ankle mortise so avoiding any deformation of the tibio-talar joint line. Reverse of movement: The machine is equipped with a system which reverses the movement when abnormal forces are detected.

With abduction (0 degrees to 30 degrees) and rotation externe (0 degrees to 20 degrees), combined abduction of the hip with flexion/extension maintains the congruity of the femoral head.
